Introduction fo Wollastonite

Wollastonite is a naturally occurring metasilicic acid mineral with the molecular formula CaSiO3 and the structural formula Ca3[Si3O9]. It belongs to the triclinic crystal system and usually appears as needle-like or fibrous aggregates. Its color is white, sometimes with light gray or light red tones. It has a good vitreous luster, and its cleavage surface shows a pearly luster. Hardness: 4.5-5.0, coefficient of expansion: 6.5×10-6 mm/(mm·℃), melting point: 1540℃, density: 2.75-3.10g/cm ³. Wollastonite has low electrical conductivity, good insulation, and very little water solubility and oil absorption. Its solubility in neutral water is only 0.0095g/100ml. The unique needle-like physical structure and stable chemical properties of wollastonite determine that it has excellent high-temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, reinforcing and strengthening functions, and is non-toxic, odorless and non-radioactive. It is widely used in functional coatings, rubber and plastics, friction materials, building materials, papermaking, metallurgy and other fields. Wollastonite fiber is one of the world's outstanding green and environmentally friendly inorganic mineral functional fillers.
